CRAFTS AND ARTWORK TOURS

CRAFTS AND CURIOS TOUR:

The tour departs Durban in the early morning to visit the town of Eshowe. Here we will visit various places where the Zulu people show off their skills, working with their hands in such mediums as grass, reeds, clay, palm leaves and wood. You will have demonstrated how they use the natural materials to obtain various colours and shades. We visit further into northern Zululand and show you more craftspeople and workers at work!

ARTS AND CULTURE TOUR:

This half day tour in Durban will take you to the Killie Campbell Collection Museum, housed at Muckleneuk high on the Berea of Durban. This magnificent 1914 neo-Cape Dutch home of the sugar magnate, Sir Marshall Campbell, houses priceless Afrikana known as the Campbell Collections. Visits are by arrangement only and you will have the chance to see priceless collections of genuine ethnic beadwork, carvings, weavings and paintings, as well as fine examples of Cape-Dutch furniture. There is also a fine collection of works by contemporary Black artists.
